New Blog!

I started a new blog because I am overflowing with crafty ideas and I just needed a separate place to feed that need.  It's at Thrifty Mama.  It's hosted by Tumblr, which is really easy to update from my phone, but I'm still figuring it out.  I really like how you can "micro-blog," because sometimes I only have an idea to share but with this blog I feel like I need to have longer posts.  Anyways, let me know what you think.  I hope that blog number two will keep me motivated and on track to start and finish many of the projects I have been wanting to start or finish for a long time now.

Since I have a special place for all my DIY crap, now I can keep the focus on Amelie and the rest of the fam on this blog.  Yay.  To celebrate, here are a bunch of photos of Amelie eating breakfast yesterday.

Yeah, she was eating a bowl of cereal with her hands.  She started out with a spoon, but rejected it for her sticky fingers.

Abby and the kids came over yesterday and we went for a walk to the park.  Going to the park may have to be a 2 adult activity for me this summer.  I took Ami to the park earlier this week by myself and it was quite interesting.  I don't really have the agility or speed to keep up with her right now.  She immediately goes for the biggest attraction at the parks and is climbing up rock walls and other playthings that should be way out of her league, but somehow are not.  Anyways, when we got home I was wiped out and sore.  So, with Abby and her kids there, Amelie was better and the kids even held hands on the walk there and back.

Congrats to the Skrtic's who just found out they are having another BOY!

Quick Ami update!

Amelie had her first hair cut last Friday morning.  She did really well.  My aunt cut it, didn't take too much off, just evened the mullet out.

I worked all weekend.  It was finally busy and I made over double what I have been making lately.  I got home later though, and was exhausted all weekend.  On Saturday I got out of bed at 2pm (thank goodness Tyler took Amelie to play at the coffee shop)  Sunday I was up at 10:45 to get ready for Yoga, a necessary part of my weekend and mental health.

Daylights savings time really fucked me this year.  When I was leaving work at 3 something am, it was actually 4 something am and I didn't fall asleep until after 5am.  Tyler was having a man sleepover with Ginger out in the living room, so I got the bed to myself, but I still tossed and turned forever.  My heels felt a little bit like exploding, which makes it hard to drift off to sleep.

Sunday night we celebrated Frank's first birthday, although you would think it was Amelie's birthday the way she was shoveling cake into her mouth.  I had to picked dried frosting out of her nostrils.  When we got home from the party I fell asleep on the couch for almost 2 hours and then couldn't fall asleep when I went to bed.  I was up until 2am.  Nap time today was glorious.

After nap time, when Tyler got home from work, we took a walk down Minnehaha Creek.

We ventured out on all the bridges and watched for ducks.  Amelie threw chunks of snow into the creek,  ran through puddles, and said "hello" and "goodbye" to every passerby.  She made a lot of our elderly neighbors smile and laugh tonight.

A Super Sweet Weekend.

I had a super fun weekend.  My BFF Krista got married!
I drove down on Friday morning and we all got our hair done and had mimosas and bagels at the salon.   Our bridesmaids dresses were pretty sweet.  Black, strapless and they had pockets.  The ceremony was short and sweet, I laughed and cried and their son Carter was adorable.  Jason surprised everyone by having his friend officiate the wedding, I thought that was a nice touch.  I also really liked how the wedding and the ceremony were all in the same place.

Krista looked beautiful.  Her hair was great, her friend Brianne loaned her a really cool headband/tiara that looked great too.

I loved dancing and hanging out with everyone.  I have been really lucky to see my friend Courtney several times this summer.  Her sister Britta was hilarious as usual.  Jourdan and Jana busted out some sweet dance moves.  I even got to see Housten juggle some limes.

Oh, and it was also my birthday.  I turned 29.  Tyler got me a new iPhone and gave it to me earlier in the week.  I had to manually re-enter all my contacts which was annoying but it's done now.   And I have a bunch of really awesome new Apps too.   My mom had dinner for me at her house on Thurs, here is grandpa with the babes.
I really missed Amelie while I was gone.  When I got home I held her for a while and tried giving her to Tyler so I could get ready for work (because I had to work Saturday night), and she turned back towards me and grabbed onto my shirt locking herself onto me.  It was so cute and the first time she has done something like that.  It was really hard to go to work.  Look at her laughing.

The whole weekend left me exhausted.  I came home from work on Saturday night and slept, we went for a walk today with our friend who lives nearby, then me, Tyler and Ami all took a 3 hour nap.

My big toes hurt.

Today, we upgraded our electrical service to 100 amps.  I feel all adulty doing all of these adult homeowner type things.  Painting walls, tiling floors, purchasing appliances, calling in an electrician, having a baby...

I went for a walk today with my friend Nicole.  Her daycare was sick so she had to stay home with her super cute daughter.  They came over to see the new pad and we walked up to Lake Nokomis.  We stopped at the park to play and Amelie took her first ride in a swing that does not run on batteries.  I don't know who had more fun, her or I.   My big toes hurt from the walk.   Is that weird?

We got Papa Murphy's for dinner and it was in the oven when we heard this strange sound.  Like a muffled thud.  We couldn't figure out what it was until I went into the kitchen and noticed milk leaking out the side of the fridge door.  Yeah, the temp in the fridge was too cold, probably from when the power had to be turned off then back on again when the electricity got shut off today.  One of the bottles of milk (the full one) froze and exploded.  It was super.  Unpasturized organic skim milk was all over the place.  We had to take out all the food, drawers, and shelves and scrub the whole thing clean.  Just when the pizza was finished cooking too.   I wish I would have gotten a photo of that.

Now that I think about it, that's the 2nd milk incident that I have had this year.  Remember the first one, I dropped it on the floor after making myself a gourmet lunch, woke up the baby, ended up eating a cold lunch.  Actually, when we moved out of our old house, I kept finding milk drop stains all over the kitchen.

I loathe football.  I think it is by far my least favorite sport.  I hate watching it, I hate seeing it on the news, I especially hate fantasy football.  I'm already tired of watching all the Farve/Vikings hoopla.  It would be great to see some news on the News.  Not sports news, not entertainment news, and not so much negative news.  Good news.  Happy stories.  Helpful tidbits of information.  Thats what I want to see on the news.

Hooray, my friend Beth is coming to town tomorrow.  I get to spend the day with her on Thursday.  Then I get to see Amber and Cassie too.  We are all going to go to dinner and have a couple of drinks afterwards.  I'm really excited to see them all again.

That's pretty much it for now.  Except for this very very cute photo.
